I drove down to San Diego last night to spend the weekend with my grandmother. I have not been down in awhile and it was time for a visit. The traffic was awful since it is Labor Day weekend.
What makes this weekend even more special is that it would also have been the 72nd wedding anniversary of my grandparents.
That is impressive!
My day started off with a hike up Battle Mountain. The elevation is not that great, but it is very steep hike. It kicks my butt every time.
The cross is the goal at the top!
This is so much steeper than it looks!
Almost to the top!
What a view! This makes it all worth it!
This cross looks so much bigger when you reach the top!
After the hike, I went back to my grandmother’s and the day really started. Nan and I went to Ikea and walked around. She loves to go to Ikea and I never say no. It is fun to look at everything and dream of how you would remodel your kitchens. We made a stop by Kohl’s afterwards. Nan had never been there and she had to walk around the whole store. We stopped for lunch at a local fish place and I had the most amazing short rib tacos.
You would think that after all that, Nan would be tired. Nope! We went home and watched some football. We are both big football fans and today College Football started.
I won’t bore with why I am SO mad at Florida State, but I will tell you we won our first game.
The day ended with dinner, more football, and the usually game of cards.
I have to say that for a woman that is almost 91, my grandmother has a ton of energy. Sometimes I find it hard to keep up with her. And I love every minute of it.
