My Labor Day started out relaxing. I went grocery shopping, worked out, and had lunch with a couple of friends all before 11. I was feeling good. I had the rest of the day to empty the DVR and read my book. All was good.
Then I get a call from my mom’s cell phone.
“Hello is this Samantha”?
“Umm… yes.” The voice on the other end was not my mother’s.
“This is George from Stater Bros. Your mother has fainted and hit her head. We called 911 and an ambulance is on the way”.
“I am on my way. Thank you.”
Holy crap balls!!!!!!! I rushed to put something on that was presentable. I drove as fast as I could. As a matter of fact, when I was stopped at a red light I saw am ambulance go by and I said out loud that it was for my mom. I pulled into a parking spot and rushed in. I saw my mother laying on the ground, in the fetal position, and a roll of paper towels under her head. She look okay, but so frail. The firemen were checking her out, the EMTs were getting the gurney ready, and customers in the store were going about their business. My mom finally saw me and I knew she was okay. It was decided that the heat had gotten to her and that she probably locked her knees in line which caused her to faint. My mom refused to go the hospital. I drove her home, made her drink some water, and felt comfortable enough to leave her.
It was damn scary!
I have called her a few times and she is okay, but I really hope she calls her doctor tomorrow.
Stater Bros., a local grocery store, was awesome. They stayed with my mom the whole time and did not charge her for her groceries. They made her as comfortable as possible and did the same for me when I arrived. I appreciate all they did and will be forever thankful.
Now, let us talk about the tragedy today. One of the fireman was extremely good looking. Even my mom mentioned him. I told her that he will never be her future son-in-law since I did not have enough time to make myself look good. She laughed about it and said next time she will give me more notice before she faints so I can get ready.
To be honest, I just want her to stop fainting!
