I’m going to tell you a secret. I sometimes get this idea that all I do is sit on the couch and do nothing exciting. Then I start writing my blog and I realize just how wrong I am!
Last night, a good friend and I headed to Pasadena for a book signing at Vroman’s Bookstore. Christina Baker Kline was in town to talk about her latest book, Orphan Train. The author gave a wonderful lecture on orphan trains that ran from the east coast to the Midwest for about 75 years. She was gracious enough to sign my book after I spilled my Iced Chai all over to the floor. It was quite a mess. Leave it to me to leave my mark! I love book signings and this one did not disappoint!
Before we found our seats at the signing, we went to Lemonade for dinner. Big mistake! This place is amazing! You could go back everyday and still not try everything. The food was delicious and you felt like you were eating healthy. Of course, the amount of food we ate was fair from healthy. I forgot to take pictures of my food, but that was probably because I was eating so fast. Lemonade is a little chain that is found all over LA County and is a must try if you are ever in town.
Today was not as exciting. I had a quiet morning of reading and watching reruns of The Amazing Race. That silly show frustrates me so much. I want so badly to be on the show and visit all the different countries. To be able to experience so many different cultures on someone else’s dime would be amazing. Then I remind myself that the contestants are only a country for a short time and they do not get to explore on their own and then I feel better.
Early in the afternoon I went to see Ride Along.
I was very disappointed in this movie. It was one of those movies that showed all of the best parts in the previews. The movie had such promise and Kevin Hart and Ice Cube usually do not disappoint. The best part of the movie? They played a KRS-One song- Sound Of Da Police. Boy did that take me back. I loved KRS-One back in the day. How a little white girl me ever discovered hims still shocks me.
Now I am preparing for my first book club meeting at my yoga studio. I have no idea what to expect, but I am very excited. We we will be reading books that are yoga memoirs or related to yoga in some way. I am just excited to have another way to get out of the house and a reason to read another book!
Totally off topic, but look what I found at Home Goods today. I think the fates were speaking to me. I do not know what they where trying to tell me, but it was nice to see!
